A challenge outside the receiver
A one-use session proposal rejects some replays while retaining the cloned-issuer failure.
Who issued S3
Lumen’s receiver must preserve samples through interruption while keeping their timing evidence attached to the correct session. The witness journal study showed that replacing every session label could leave a false-origin record looking complete. Haddad’s next proposal places a one-use challenge outside the recovered receiver journal. Chen tests the proposal with stale and missing state.
In the favorable model case, an issuer ledger records challenge C41 as issued and unused for session S3. The sample at tick 50 and witness anchors at ticks 0 and 100 all carry C41. The review checks the supplied issuer state before reusing the preceding journal checker. Its favorable result remains a conditional model bracket.
A used challenge and an absent anchor
A consumed C41 holds recovery even when all labels match. An unavailable issuer also holds, and a sample carrying C40 cannot borrow C41’s journal. These are six authored cases, not a running challenge service. The model accepts issuer validation as an input; it performs no cryptographic authentication.
Removing the tick-100 witness still retains the payload while holding timing. Fresh session evidence cannot supply the missing side of a time bracket. The session proposal and the earlier clock-characterization work therefore remain separate obligations.
The ledger can be replayed too
The retained cloned-issuer case gives the reviewer exactly the same sample, journal and issuer input as the favorable control. Its authored history says that all three were copied together. The reviewer returns the same favorable result because it has no independent observation with which to distinguish them.
The next design must specify who maintains challenge state and how consumption survives a restart outside the receiver’s failure domain. No deployed issuer, physical clock performance, optical terminal or lunar link is established here. The unresolved seasonal archive has not entered this study.
